In the second quarter of 2024, Australia's Theme Parks Apps market showed varying performances across key metrics. This analysis, based on Sensor Tower's data, presents an overview of how these apps fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.
The Tokyo Disney Resort App saw its revenue peak at nearly $750K in the third week of April, followed by fluctuations with a gentle decline to around $200K by the end of June. Downloads started strong at over 6K in the first week of April, decreasing to around 3.6K by the end of that month, but rebounded to nearly 6K by late June. Weekly active users dipped from 17K to around 13.7K in April and rose back to over 16K in June.
Village Roadshow Theme Parks focused on downloads and user engagement, with no revenue reported. Downloads began at close to 6K in April and saw a drop to approximately 3K by the end of May, before climbing back to over 5K in the last week of June. Weekly active users started at 41K, with a decrease to 32K in May, and a slight recovery to over 34K by June's end.
The Universal Studios Japan app also reported zero revenue. Downloads decreased from about 4.5K in the first week of April to around 2.5K by the end of May, then increased to 3.5K in the last week of June. Weekly active users showed a similar trend, dropping from 9K to 6.7K in May, then gradually picking up to 7.7K by the end of the quarter.
My Disney Experience showed a revenue trend with an initial $834K in the first week of April, a spike to over $1M mid-month, and a decline to around $400K by the end of June. Downloads were highest at 713 in mid-April and saw a gradual decrease to 510 by the end of June. Weekly active users stayed within a narrow band, peaking at 1.9K in mid-April and ending the quarter at 1.6K.
Lastly, the Universal Orlando Resort app, with no revenue, had downloads starting at 327 in April's first week, dipping to 155 by the end of May, and rebounding to 228 in the last week of June. Weekly active users showed a slight increase from 715 to 826 in mid-April, followed by a decrease to around 540 in June, and a small rise to 592 in the final week.
